Travel Italy by Train: day 05 05 Hiking from Monterosso, Cinque Terre

16Having dived into the ocean, the next challenge was to climb up the mountain.

We have chosen a 1.5-hour hiking route from Monterosso to Vernazza. The location was superior because of its visibility. It was also convenient to approach the Vernazza town without taking a train or boat.

The first half hour of the trip was quite demanding due to the muddy stairs. The slope was rather huge as well. It is better not to wear 22long and loose pants but a pair of professional climbing shoes. There are many spots for photography along the way and the cliff was not dangerous. A spare memory card for your camera and a few drinks may be needed to gear up yours as well as the camera’s bodies.

Despite of whatever equipment you are carrying with, or the level of hiking experience you previously earned, the weather and people on the path were pleasing. This is one of the heavenly charmed sea bay on earth !

Moving downward, and accompanied with the bell from the church, we know that the vicinity was near. We said goodbye to Monterosso but our hearts were left behind.

  1. Beautiful images. This last one took my breath away. This is one place i really wanted to visit but wasn’t able too. I can not wait to head back to Europe and tick this off the list. Thank you for sharing.
