Travel Italy by Train: day 11 09 Piazza di Spagna and La Fontana della Barcaccia in Rome

03.jpgSaving the best for last. Tonight we were about to visit a very local yet world-famous spot: Piazza di Spagna and La Fontana della Barcaccia.

The highlight of the plaza was not particularly shocking as it only occupied merely 50 square meters. It nevertheless fascinates the world  because of the movie “Roman Holiday”. The actress “Audrey Hepburn” enjoyed an ice-cream on a stair elegantly in front of the audience. Beneath the stairs, there were a wreck in Baroque style (designed by Bernini) with lighting effects as well as a fountain of vogue. Many shops were opening,  including an ice-cream counter, boutique stores, and a pharmacy, etc.. The walking distance to the metro station was only two minutes. It was indeed a lively corner for laid-back.

Metro: Spagna station on Line A.
